Do you know what it’s like to be fluent in 5 languages and live in 7 different countries?
We don’t know either but Dario Kirola knows for sure!
Dario Kirola is a media entrepreneur, producer, and expert in branding and global strategy. Due to his diverse and exotic background, he considers himself both a global nomad and a local everywhere.
Despite a common misconception that success was written in his books due to his childhood home (Monaco), Dario says that there’s a lot of time, effort, and hard work behind all those Instagram photos of the glamorous red carpet life.
Being great at anything you do comes with a lot of daily grinds, seeing things go terribly wrong, and always questioning your decisions. But if you’re lucky enough, it also comes with family or friends who push you to persevere and set new trends even if you don’t really want to.
Although a self-taught producer, the 11 years of experience showed Dario that things don’t always have to work out even when everything else is aligned. When compared to the startup world, the entertainment industry seems more unstable and there’s no guarantee of success, Dario notes.
“The producer role is very much at the intersection of business and creativity. You have different types of producers. You have some that are just about business and finance-oriented, very hands-off from the creative process. You have others that are a lot more involved in creativity. But really, a producer at the core is the marriage of both.”
In this episode of the COING Podcast, we dive deeper into the intricacies of the film industry with Dario, discuss what it feels like to be part of the entertainment industry, and learn that you don’t really need a formal education to succeed in whatever you feel passionate about.
